Hailed by the legendary pianist Arthur Rubinstein as a "born Chopin interpreter", Janina Fialkowska has been delighting audiences worldwide for over forty years. In 2016 Fialkowska celebrated her 65th birthday with a Birthday Celebration Tour, which took her to Japan, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Spain and Portugal as well as to her home country Canada where she performed 30 concerts. Born in Montreal, she trained in Paris with Yvonne Lefebure as well as in New York with Sacha Gorodnitzki at the Juillard School. She has performed with the world's leading orchestras under conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Bernard Haitink, Lorin Maazel, Sir Georg Solti, Sir Roger Norrington and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. In Canada Fialkowska has been honoured with the country's highest civilian awards: the Order of Canada and the Goveneror General's Award for her life's work, as well as three honorary doctorates from renowned Canadian universities.
