Thuringian Opera Studio

The Thuringian Opera Studio is a postgraduate course in cooperation between the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar and the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar (DNT), the Erfurt Theatre, the Nordhausen Theatre and the Altenburg Gera Theatre, which is scheduled to resume at the start of the 2025/2026 season. The programme offers young, highly talented singers the opportunity to gain professional experience on the opera stage.

The students work on specialist roles in new productions and in the repertoire and regularly appear on stage in theatre performances. They attend classes at the university. A scholarship awarded by the theatres enables them to expand their artistic skills in a financially independent manner and, thanks to their head start in professional practice, to improve their chances of finding engagements.
