After the application

If I am offered a place, what then?

After the aptitude test, applicants usually receive a notification within three weeks. This contains the examination result and, if the aptitude test has been passed, indicates the possibility of enrolment. Enrolment is only possible for the semester specified in the notification.

You can accept or reject the enrolment offer in the portal. This must be done within the deadline communicated in the notification. You can then enrol by the deadline (for the winter semester by 31 August). If you do not wish to accept the place or do not re-enrol before the deadline, your place will be offered to other applicants.

Which documents are necessary for enrolment?

The following documents are required for enrolment:

  •     proof of payment of the current semester fee
  •     proof of payment of other fees and contributions due in connection with your studies

Proof of language level B2 must be provided by the "German Language Test for University Entrance" (DSH), the "Test of German as a Foreign Language" (TestDaF), "The European Language Certificates" (telc) or comparable language examinations, e.g. Goethe certificates. We recommend a certified language school.

Applicants for the degree programmes Musicology, Cultural Management or Teaching at Grammar Schools require proof of language level C1.

  •     An overview of the language levels can be found here
  •     Depending on previous knowledge, language acquisition can take place via intensive courses and/or study-related language courses. This overview shows the possibilities.
  •     What language courses are available in Weimar? Depending on when you start your studies, you can take these courses offered by the Language Centre of the Bauhaus Universität Weimar:
  •     Start in the winter semester
  •     Start in the summer semester

Study and examination achievements completed abroad
Applicants for a degree course leading to a Bachelor's, First State Examination or Diploma should note that coursework and examinations completed abroad will be recognised if equivalence has been established.
