Our shelves contain around 150,000 books, sheet music, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and magazines from all areas of music (e.g. classical, popular music and jazz) and cultural management. We also have a large stock of digital resources such as databases, e-journals and e-books.

The library is open to the public. The holdings are available to anyone interested in researching, learning or reading. Borrowing is only possible for members of the HfM as well as members and affiliates of another Thuringian university after prior registration.

Table panel FOLDIT

A FOLDIT table panel was purchased for undisturbed work in the Musicology Branch Library.
For testing, cocooning, studying, and better concentration.

The felt stand is lightweight and can therefore be easily moved. Place it exactly where you need it.

To help us determine whether more stands should be purchased, we would appreciate your feedback.

No more access to RILM & RIPM

The RILM and RIPM databases were discontinued at the end of the year due to their immense and steadily increasing costs.

However, an alternative is readily available, and we recommend the BMS - Bibliographie des Musikschrifttums.

The online Bibliography of Music Literature is an international, interactive, and freely accessible bibliography for musicology. It serves as a continuation of the work published in print up to the reporting year 1988.

The BMS includes books, articles, and reviews from journals, commemorative publications, conference proceedings, yearbooks, edited volumes, and critical reports of musical editions. The BMS editorial team evaluates national bibliographies, specialist journals, and specialized bibliographies. Numerous titles are accompanied by a short summary.
