Konstantin Scherbakov has performed on five continents, appeared as a soloist with some of the world's best orchestras under the baton of conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Yuri Simonov, Rudolf Barshai, Nello Santi, Kirill Petrenko, Christian Mandeal, Aldo Ceccato, Andrei Boreiko and others, and has given concerts in the world's most famous concert halls. He is a guest at many international music festivals such as Salzburg, Lucerne, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Bad Kissingen, Schubertiade, Beethoven Festival Bonn, Liszt Festival Weimar, Piano Festival Lucerne and others.
His repertoire is as extensive as it is demanding, and his discography includes more than 60 CDs. He plays everything that Beethoven, Godowsky, Shostakovich, Respighi and Rachmaninoff wrote for the piano. Many such projects have been recorded - Beethoven's 32 sonatas and Liszt's transcriptions of all nine symphonies; Godowsky's complete works on 15 CDs; the complete piano works of Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich and Respighi, all works for piano and orchestra by Medtner, Respighi, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Arensky and Scriabin for the EMI Classics, Naxos, Marco Polo or Steinway & Sons labels. Many of these recordings have been honoured with important international awards.
Konstantin Scherbakov has been a professor at the Zurich University of the Arts since 1998; he is a jury member of many international competitions. Website
