Why Awareness?
A music university thrives on closeness: one-on-one instruction, intensive rehearsals, and artistic relationships that span many years. This closeness is a strength of the educational experience—and it requires a conscious approach to power, dependency, and boundaries. The Awareness Program provides the knowledge, a common language, and reliable structures to support this.
Our Goal
The goal is to foster a respectful, power-sensitive campus environment in teaching, artistic practice, research, and collaboration. The program is aimed at all members of the university community: students, faculty, and staff. It pays particular attention to the fact that the university community is international and diverse.
Five Areas of Action
• Sensitive Use of Power: structurally embedding a culture of prevention, protection, and open communication
• Communication and Attitude: treating one another with respect and professionalism—in teaching, practice, research, and administration
• Integration and Interculturality: Orientation, support, and interaction for international and German-speaking students
• Mental Health: Provide early support, reduce stress, and strengthen psychosocial competence
• Sustainability: Develop lasting foundations—materials, mission statement, code of conduct
