Ingolf Turban | Violin

22 - 28 July 2025
Ingolf Turban has appeared as a soloist at the Berlin and Munich Philharmonie, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, at New York's Avery Fisher Hall, at the Tonhalle in Zurich, at the Goldener Saal of the Musikverein in Vienna and at La Scala in Milan. He works with conductors such as Sergiu Celibidache, Charles Dutoit, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Yehudi Menuhin, Jun Märkl, Yutaka Sado, Franz Welser-Möst, Andris Nelsons and Marcello Viotti. In addition to the works of the great violin literature, he brings a repertoire into the world that has never been heard before. Ingolf Turban plays the following violins, alternating according to programme, venue and style: Antonius Stradivarius (1721), Martin Schleske op. 130 (2009) and Martin Schleske op. 361 (2024, back made of at least 30,000-year-old cowrie shell). His commitment to the work of Niccolò Paganini alone has brought him unusual success, such as in 2006 with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra; also with the complete recording of the six violin concertos (Telos Records) and in the television documentary ‘Paganini's Secret’ (merkur.tv 2006). His extensive repertoire of all styles is now documented on over 40 CD productions. Once much-acclaimed premiere recordings, many works have now been incorporated into the standard concert repertoire. In 2005, he founded the chamber orchestra ‘I Virtuosi di Paganini’. In 2006, Ingolf Turban, who had taught at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts for eleven years, accepted an offer from the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Ingolf Turban received the International Classical Music Award 2021.
