Wen-Sinn Yang | Violoncello

26 July - 1 August 2026
His fascination with the unknown and his incessant exploration distinguish Wen-Sinn Yang as one of the most versatile cellists of our time. In his original concerts, he not only brings the music of 19th-century cello virtuosos such as Adrien François Servais and Carl Yulyevich Davidow back to the stage, but also introduces his audience to modern composers such as Aribert Reimann and Isang Yun.
In addition to his work as an internationally acclaimed soloist under conductors such as Sir Colin Davis, Lorin Maazel, Mariss Jansons, Shiao-Chia Lü, Grzegorz Nowak, Daniel Klajner, Yukata Sado, and Michael Hofstetter, and with orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony, the NHK Tokyo, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Russian State Orchestra Moscow, Wen-Sinn Yang is also a sought-after chamber music partner.
Wen-Sinn Yang's wide-ranging repertoire is documented on over 30 CDs. These include the major works for cello by Boccherini, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, and Dvorak, as well as compositions by Henri Vieuxtemps, David Popper, Leonid Sabaneev, and Sofia Gubaidulina. Many of these recordings are first recordings. Since 2004, Yang has been teaching as professor of violoncello at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and also regularly gives international masterclasses.
