Jana Boušková, born in Prague (Czech Republic), is one of the world's most famous and elite harpists, whose exceptional artistic talent has earned her invitations to the most prestigious stages in the world. During her lifetime, the artist has taken part in a total of eight harp competitions (in the USA, Israel, Germany, Belgium, France and Italy) and has always won the highest award, including five first prizes and the prestigious gold medal at the US International Harp Competition in 1992. Jana Boušková performs as a soloist with leading orchestras and in solo concerts all over the world in the most prestigious concert halls. In addition to her solo career, she is also active as a pedagogue. Since September 2019, she has been teaching as a professor at the renowned Royal College of Music in London and has been teaching at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague since 2007. She was also a very successful professor at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels for 15 years (2005-2020) and also taught at the Prague Conservatory for 19 years (1993-2012). Since 2005, Jana Boušková has been the principal harpist of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. She is regularly invited to participate in world-famous harp congresses and symposia, including membership of the juries of international harp competitions and conducting masterclasses around the world. In 1999 she was the artistic director of the 7th World Harp Congress in Prague, a member of the artistic council of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. She is currently the patron of the Klostermusikfestival and the Cancioneta Praga choir. Jana Boušková has recorded 50 CDs for Czech and international publishers, radio and television stations. She has made several transcriptions of compositions by Czech composers. In 2021, these compositions were released on her solo CD ‘My Homeland’ on Supraphon.
