Richard Stokes is Professor of Art Song at the Royal Academy of Music in London and has lectured and given masterclasses on the subject extensively both in the UK and abroad, including at Wigmore Hall and at such major festivals as Aldeburgh and Edinburgh. He has translated "Wozzeck" and "La voix humaine" for Opera North, and "Parsifal", "Lulu", "L'amour de loin" and Wolfgang Rihm's "Jakob Lenz" for English National Opera. His publications include "The Book of Lieder" (Faber), "The Spanish Song Companion" (with Jacqueline Cockburn), "J. S. Bach - The Complete Cantatas" (Scarecrow Press) and "A French Song Companion" (with Graham Johnson, Oxford University Press). He collaborated with Alfred Brendel on his poetry collection "Playing the Human Game" (Phaidon). His translations of Kafka's "The Metamorphosis" and "The Trial" were published by Hesperus Press, and he translated Kafka's "Letter to the Father" with Hannah Stokes (Alma Books). Most recently, One World Books published his translation of Jules Renard's "Histoires Naturelles".

Malcolm Martineau was born in Edinburgh and studied at the Royal College of Music in London. Internationally recognised as one of the leading songwriters of his generation, he has worked with some of the world's most renowned singers. These include Dame Janet Baker, Olaf Bär, Barbara Bonney, Ian Bostridge, Angela Gheorghiu, Susan Graham, Thomas Hampson, Della Jones, Simon Keenlyside, Angelika Kirchschlager, Magdalena Kozena, Solveig Kringelborn, Jonathan Lemalu, Dame Felicity Lott, Christopher Maltman, Karita Mattila, Ann Murray, Anna Netrebko, Anne Sofie von Otter, Joan Rodgers, Amanda Roocroft, Michael Schade, Frederica von Stade, Sarah Walker and Bryn Terfel. Martineau has created his own concert series at the Wigmore Hall in London and at the Edinburgh Festival. Guest appearances have taken him across Europe, North America and Australia, as well as to music festivals in Aix en Provence, Vienna, Edinburgh, Munich and Salzburg. In 2004 he received an honorary doctorate from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where he was also honoured as an International Fellow of Accompaniment in 2009.
