The Romanian violinist Remus Azoitei has been a featured soloist of Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchestre National de Belgique, performing under such conductors as Lawrence Foster, Dimitri Kitaenko and Gabriel Chmura. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Salle Cortot in Paris, Konzerthaus in Berlin, St-Martin-in-the-Fields in London, Konzerthaus in Vienna, and Palais de Beaux Arts in Brussels, among many others. Together with pianist Eduard Stan, he has recorded the entire violin repertoire by George Enescu on 2 CD that attracted international acclaim. He has also recorded a CD with the Schubert Ensemble, for Chandos label. In 2005, he performed Bach’s Double concerto with Nigel Kennedy, a concert broadcast on 19 Radio and TV stations across Europe and North America, including Arte and Mezzo. Remus Azoitei studied with Dorothy DeLay, Masao Kawasaki and Itzhak Perlman at the Juilliard School in New York. In 2001, Remus was appointed violin professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, at the time becoming the youngest ever violin professor in the history of this institution. He is the founder and the Artistic Director of the Enescu Society in London. He plays on a 1753 Niccolo Gagliano violin. He is regularly invited in international juries such as the Enescu Competition and Jeunesses Musicales, as well as giving masterclasses around the world.
