b) One caprice by Rode, Gaviniés, Dancla, Kreutzer or Wieniawski

c) One work or part thereof, for violin solo or violin and piano of own choice (max. 10 minutes)

Second Round

a) One movement from a sonata or sonatina by Mozart, Beethoven, or Schubert

b) First movement from one of the following violin concertos: Mozart (KV 211, 216, 218, 219), Mendelssohn E minor, Wieniawski D minor, Lalo (Symphonie espagnole) or the last movement of the concerto no. 8 by Spohr or the last movement of the concerto G minor by Bruch
The concerto may be the same as the one played in the third round.

c) One virtuoso work for violin solo or violin and piano of own choice (max. 10 minutes)

Participation Rules

1. The Competition is open to young violinists of all nationalities. The following age groups are organized as:

Cat. I: born after 9.11.1992
Cat. II: born after 9.11.1989
Cat. III: born after 9.11.1985

2. The competition will take place with piano in three rounds in all categories.

3. All works must be performed memorized and without repeats. Sonatas with piano and works from the Second Vienna School and by composers born not before 1880 may be played from music.

4. The choice of works may not be changed after applying.

5. Official piano accompanists will be available free of charge for the competition. Participants bringing a private accompanist, must cover the costs themselves.

6. The decisions of the jury are legally final.

7. The jury reserves the right to call off the performance.

8. The competition is open to the public in all three rounds (concert attire is required).

9. Participants must pay for hotel and travel costs themselves. East-European participants may apply for a subsidy for these costs. No one is automatically enti-tled to receive a subsidy.

9. The competition will cover accommodation costs for those candidates who have reached the second round (from then onward), to a maximum of 25 Euros per person per day. This offer does not include accommodation costs for private piano accompanists or travel partners.

10. The prize winners are commited to perform in competition related concerts without pay. The organizer may record parts of the competition. Yet competitors have no recording rights whatsoever. Prize winners must also accept their prize in person.

11. At registration, competitors must agree to the complete regulations and terms of the competition.

12. In cases of doubt, the German text of this invitation is legally binding.
