Montreal-born violinist Lucie Robert has been praised by audiences and critics alike for the expressive lyricism and tonal beauty of her playing. Lucie Robert continues the great violin tradition of her teacher and mentor, the legendary Josef Gingold. Winner of the First International Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Austria, she has performed as a recitalist and chamber musician in the USA, Canada, Europe and the Far East. She has performed more than thirty different works as a soloist with major orchestras throughout North America and has appeared in numerous concerts with her duo partner, pianist Jeffrey Cohen. An active participant in summer music festivals, she has been a guest artist or lecturer at festivals such as Bowdoin, the American Conservatoire at Fontainebleau, Meadowmount, Orford, Busan Music Festival, Hida-Takayama Festival, Texas Music Festival, MusicAlp Academy and the Ishikawa Music Academy. The sought-after violin teacher has been Professor of Violin at the Manhattan School of Music since 1988 and in 2023 was the recipient of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, the highest award bestowed by the school. Lucie Robert has given masterclasses at prestigious institutions worldwide and has been a jury member at numerous international competitions, including the Montreal, Fritz Kreisler, Kumho, József Szigeti, Seoul, Joseph Joachim, Isang Yun, Jean Sibelius and Louis Spohr Young Violinists Competitions. She is a member of the jury for the violin competitions “Tibor Varga” and “Global Music Education League Violin Competition” in Beijing. Furthermore, Professor Robert has been named President of the Jury for both the Montreal International Musical Competition in Canada and the Bogotà International Violin Competition in Colombia. She is also a frequent contributor to The Strad Magazine and The Violin Channel.
