Until August 2025, Hellen Gross was Professor of Cultural and Social Management at Coburg University of Applied Sciences. While studying economics at the University of Hohenheim, she focused on the management of cultural organisations. After completing her doctorate in strategic management and marketing of non-profit organisations at the University of Mannheim under Prof. Dr Bernd Helmig, Chair of Public and Non-Profit Management, she worked as a management consultant in the public, private and non-profit sectors. From June 2016 to February 2021, she held the Chair of Non-Profit Management at the Saarland University of Applied Sciences. Thanks to her many years of experience teaching at universities and colleges, Professor Gross has a broad teaching background, including digital teaching and learning formats. Her research focuses on the strategic management, marketing and human resources management of cultural organisations as well as cultural policy and has been published in renowned international journals, including the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Cultural Management and Cultural Policy and the International Journal of Arts Management.
Since April 2022, she has been chairing the Professional Association for Cultural Management Research on a voluntary basis, where she is committed to advancing the field of cultural management in theoretical, empirical and methodological terms. On 1 September 2025, Prof. Dr. Hellen Gross will take over the Chair of Cultural Management at the Institute of Musicology Weimar-Jena, succeeding Prof. Dr. Steffen Höhne.
