Thüringer Opernstudio

Professional introduction to opera practice. In the heart of Thuringia. At the heart of the profession.
The Thuringian Opera Studio is a springboard to the stage – a postgraduate programme for highly talented singers who want to take the step into professional opera life.
Together with four renowned theatres, the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar offers a combination of study and engagement that is unique in Germany.
Cooperation with style
Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, Theater Erfurt, Theater Nordhausen and Theater Altenburg Gera – four partners, four artistic signatures, one common goal: to specifically promote excellent young singers and prepare them for everyday professional life. This close cooperation enables an exceptionally broad network in the theatre landscape of Central Germany – and far beyond.
Learn. Perform. Grow.
Students take on specialist roles in new productions and repertoire productions, regularly appear on stage and gain real professional experience – under professional conditions, with real ensembles and orchestras. At the university, they simultaneously deepen their artistic and technical training in singing, interpretation and stage work.
Artistic freedom – financial security.
A scholarship from the participating theatres enables students to concentrate fully on their artistic development. This creates space for what really matters: stage, voice, expression.
Tradition with a future.
The partner institutions of the Thuringian Opera Studio jointly represent Thuringia's vibrant opera culture.
They are responsible for the next generation of singers – and for the future of opera as an art form.
