Information about the programme in composition

The administration and programmatic development of the degree programmes in composition are among the core responsibilities of the Department of Contemporary Music. Foundational teaching in composition, including courses in music theory, orchestration, music history, and a performance subject, is as central to our programme as seminars on electroacoustic music, advanced acoustics, as well as project-based work with performers. You may elect optional courses from a range of conducting tuition, chamber music, as well as additional classes in musicology and music theory. Special topics such as ethnomusicology and media studies support our goal of offering as broad a range of knowledge as possible.
