Gabriel Kwok, Hongkong

The centre of his life as well as his educational focus is in Hong Kong. There, Gabriel Kwok has taught for nearly 30 years as director of the piano institute of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. At the same time, he regularly teaches at the Royal Academy of Music in London as well as visiting Chinese conservatories in Shenzhen, Xian, Xinghai and Wuhan. Masterclasses have taken him several times to the USA, China, South Korea, Israel and various European countries. He is also a respected jury member at major piano competitions, including Rome, Vianna da Motta, Gina Bachauer, Hong Kong, Hilton Head, Minnesota, Rio de Janeiro, James Mottram and Geneva. Artistic projects have led him into cooperation with artists such as Aaron Rosand, Nathaniel Rosen, Hans Jörg Schellenberger and Richard Stolzman. In 2014, Gabriel Kwok was honoured by the Hong Kong Government with the Medal of Honour for his outstanding achievements in the field of piano education.
