Prize winners 2011

1st prize: Marina Yakhlakova, Russia

Since winning the International FRANZ LISZT Piano Competition, Marina has come a long way toward establishing her international career. She was awarded an exclusive record contract with the Master Performers label, recording her debut CD in Brisbane, Australia in 2013. In February 2014, Marina produced a DVD with works by Schubert and Schubert-Liszt at the prestigious Mechanics Concert Hall in Worcester, Massachusetts in the United States. The DVD will be launched during the Paris Chopin Festival this year in June. As a direct and indirect result of winning the Liszt-Competition, Marina has performed concertos and given solo recitals in Austria, Australia, Germany, Holland, Israel, Lithuania, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Canada. In addition to her concert and recording schedule, Marina continues to study with Alexander Strukov at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. (April 2014)

2nd prize: Sergey Sobolev, Russia

Sergey Sobolev was born in 1982 and received his entire music education in Moscow. From 2000 – 2008 he studied piano at the Tschaikowsky Conservatoire in Moscow under Prof. Mikhail Voskresensky. The 29-year old is currently doing a second postgraduate course at the Royal College of Music in London. He won the first prize at the Nicolay Rubinstein Piano Competition and succeeded at the Moscow Tschaikowsky Competition in 2007, the Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition and the XVI Concurso Internacional die Piano de Santander. Sergey Sobolev has performed at several festivals, including the Usedom Music Festival and the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad in Switzerland.

3rd prize: Ilya Kondratiev, Russia

Pianist Ilya Kondratiev is the prize winner of such renown competitions as the International F. Chopin Piano Competition (Hannover 2011), International F. Liszt Piano Competition (Budapest 2011), International F. Liszt Piano Competition (Weimar 2011), and the Fifth Tbilisi International Piano Competition (Tbilisi 2013).
In 2009 he founded a chamber music ensemble 'Robert-Quintet', which successfully played at the Sixth Stasys Vainunas Chamber Music Competition (Vilnus 2009, Second  prize, First was not awarded) and at the 'Premio Vittorio Gui' Chamber Music Competition (Florence 2011,3 prize).
His repertoire is mostly based on classic and romantic music, but also includes many contemporary works.
In 2011 Ilya was invited to take part in the Franz Liszt Piano Academy in Schillingfurst (Germany) with E. Leonskaya and in the Eppan Piano Academy (Italy) with P. Gililov. He frequently takes part in master classes with Rolf-Dieter Arens, Dina Yoffe, Konstantin Shcherbakov, Willem Brons, Paul Gulda, Dmitry Bashkirov, Jerome Rose, Leslie Howard, Vanessa Latarshe, Lang Lang, and Arie Vardi.
Currently, he studies for the Master of Performance at the Royal College of Music with with Vanessa Latarche, having previously studied with People Artist of Russia Zinaida Ignatieva at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, and Victoria Soifer at Samara College of Music.
Ilya is supported by Henry Wood Trust Foundation, Future of Russia Foundation, and Mark Zetland Foundation.
