Leslie Howard

Leslie Howard is an Australian concert pianist, composer, conductor and scholar. He has balanced his career as a record producer with an international concert career that has seen him perform regularly around the world for more than half a century. The pianist has released a whopping 100 CDs, including most recently a recording of previously unreleased works by Franz Liszt. He recorded the complete piano works of Franz Liszt.

In addition to his Liszt solo recordings, Leslie Howard's CD discography contains many other important world premiere recordings, including Rubinstein's four piano sonatas, Tchaikovsky's three piano sonatas and a CD of Scandinavian piano sonatas.

Leslie Howard has also made a name for himself as a scholar. He has published numerous volumes, including editorial works such as new Liszt Urtext scores. His other editorial work includes a new reconstruction and orchestration of Paganini's Fifth Violin Concerto for the collected Paganini edition in Italy, the complete score of Bellini's "Adelson e Salvini" and the now standard two-piano score of Rachmaninoff's Fourth Concerto for Boosey & Hawkes.

Since touring Bangkok and Hong Kong in early 2020, his work has been limited to online performances, recordings, recitals and masterclasses due to Covid-19's illness.  He resumed public performances at the end of July 2021 with another recital at his beloved Wigmore Hall.
