Computer-aided music analysis

Funded by the Stifterverband together with the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society as part of the Fellowship Program for Innovations in Digital Academic Teaching.

Funding period: one year; start: January 1, 2021.

The goal of the fellowship project is to design, test, evaluate, and teach several flexibly usable teaching modules for music analysis using various computer-based analysis tools. The teaching modules are dedicated to computer-based annotation and visualization of musical scores and audio files, statistical analysis of music corpora, search for musical patterns (rhythms, melodies, harmony connections, etc.). They are intended to complement conventional analysis courses, are tested and evaluated in various courses at the HfM Weimar, and are made available free of charge to a wider circle of interested parties via an Internet platform.
