Troels Svane studied with David Geringas at the Lübeck Academy of Music and passed his diploma and concert exam with honours and top marks in all subjects. After graduating from high school, he became deputy principal cellist of the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 18. In addition to numerous scholarships, he has been honoured with national and international prizes. As a soloist, Troels Svane has played with numerous Danish orchestras and orchestras in Germany, England, Holland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden and Switzerland. He has performed in recitals and as a chamber musician throughout Europe, Australia, Asia, South America and the USA. The cellist has performed with Yuri Bashmet, Wolfgang Boettcher, Thomas Brandis, Zakhar Bron, Ana Chumachenco, Ulf Hoelscher, Karl Leister, Sabine Meyer and Thomas Zehetmair, among others. He has recorded more than 40 CDs, including the complete works for cello and piano by Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Reger. After 11 years as assistant to David Geringas, he was appointed professor of cello at the Lübeck University of Music in 2004. He also has a cello class at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. He has given masterclasses in Australia, Asia, Ukraine, South America and numerous European countries and has served as a juror at major international competitions. His students include numerous prizewinners of international competitions and members of renowned chamber music ensembles and orchestras.
