Hartmut Rohde (Germany)
As both viola player and conductor, he captivates his audience with his tone and diverse musical language. Hartmut Rohde is also a member of the Mozart Piano Quartet which was awarded the “OPUS Klassik” prize in 2018. He has worked with prominent chamber musicians, including David Geringas, Janine Jansen, Jörg Widmann, Lars Vogt, Elena Bashkirowa and Kolja Blacher. His performances have led him to the “Festspiele” in Salzburg and Berlin, the Carnegie Hall and Wigmore Hall, the Schleswig-Holstein Music festival, to Seoul and Sydney, to the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Wiener Musikverein (music association of Vienna). Hartmut Rohde has performed as a soloist under the direction of Kent Nagano, Paavo Järvi, Michael Sanderling and Massimo Zanetti. He has also released CDs with EMI Classics, Decca, Sony/BMG, MDG, CPO and Naxos. From 2013 to 2017, he conducted the chamber orchestra Breslauer Kammerorchester Leopoldinum, and has also stood at the rostrum of many other orchestras. In 2022, tours with Seoul Virtuosi and the chamber orchestra of Lithuania will lead him through Germany and Asia as soloist and conductor. Hartmut Rohde has taught as a Professor at the University of the Arts Berlin since 1993 and is an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music in London.
