Alex Vaughan is an Australian composer born in Sydney and currently working as a freelance composer and computer programmer in Germany. He studied contemporary composition and jazz trombone at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar and briefly at the Kunst Universität in Graz, Austria.

As a composer, Vaughan's awards include the 2017 Baldreit Scholarship from the City of Baden-Baden, the 2018 Thuringia Composition Prize, the 2021 "Casa Baldi" Rome Scholarship, and the Roche Young Commissions (2019-2021) from Roche and the Lucerne Festival. He has been a lecturer at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar since 2017.

As a programmer, Vaughan is heavily involved in music digitisation, sound analysis and musical artificial intelligence.
