Elke Reichel studied church music in Dresden and music theory and instrumental pedagogy at the Berlin University of the Arts. At the Dresden University of Music she taught music theory, aural training and musical analysis from 2012, primarily in the area of teacher training courses. From 2014 to 2020, she taught composition, arranging, composing and improvising for schools and music schools at the Music Pedagogical Institute of the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre.

Elke Reichel also worked as a music teacher, ensemble leader and specialist advisor for inclusion at the Heinrich Schütz Conservatory Dresden and implemented cooperative projects at the interface between school, music school and university.  

Since 2019, Elke Reichel has been employed as a teacher for special tasks in music theory at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar. Among other things, she teaches aural and work analysis for student teachers, instrumentation and arrangement for artistic and pedagogical degree programmes, as well as the subjects of aural education and subject didactics as part of the master's degree programme in music theory. Her dissertation project on Mozart's music theatre of the Viennese creative period is supervised at the Munich University of Music and Theatre.
