Martin Erhardt has devoted his musical life equally to art and pedagogy, theory and practice, improvisation, composition and interpretation in the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque. On the one hand, he teaches historical improvisation and music theory at the universities in Weimar and Leipzig and recorder at the conservatory in Halle - on the other hand, he also performs as a recorder player, harpsichordist, organist, portative player and singer.

With the ensembles Nusmido and all'improvviso he performs regularly at the Bachfest Leipzig, the Händelfestspiele Halle and the Heinrich Schütz Musikfest. He is the director of EX TEMPORE (Leipzig Improvisation Festival for Early Music) and author of the textbook "Improvisation with Ostinato Basses".
