Schirmer has won the Leipzig Bach Competition twice (1992 and 1998) and made a remarkable CD debut with Bach's Goldberg Variations. For her critically acclaimed recording of the Piano Suites of George Frideric Handel she received her second ECHO Klassik in 2009 and was also honored with the Handel Prize of the City of Halle in 2012: a total of fifteen first prizes and special prizes at piano competitions testify to the impressive career of this pianist. Ragna Schirmer gives concerts in the most important halls across Europe, China and New Zealand as well as at renowned festivals. She has performed with Zubin Mehta, Sir Roger Norrington, Kurt Masur, Sir Neville Marriner, Herbert Blomstedt and others and has performed with orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Orchestre National de France, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. At the age of 28, she was already appointed to a professorship at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim.
