Roland Szentpáli - Tuba

17 – 22 July 2022

Unfortunately, this course had to be cancelled.

The Hungarian musician first picked up the euphonium at the age of twelve before learning to play the tuba just one year later. In the 1990s Roland Szentpali studied first at the Béla Bartók Academy and later at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest. He won three first prizes at the International Tuba Competition in Cheju (South Korea) and at the International Performer's Competition in Brno (Czech Republic) in 2000 and at the Lahti International Brass Competition (Finland) in 2001. He is first tuba player of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra and an internationally sought-after soloist. Roland Szentpali has also made a name for himself as a composer: many of his works for tuba and chamber ensemble or orchestra have been premiered by the Hungarian Radio Orchestra. His last solo CD I killed my lips also included four of his own compositions. The tuba player regularly gives master classes in the USA, Japan and many European countries. Website
