8th alumni reunion on 23 June 2022

Reunion for 150th university birthday

The joy was really great. Because finally there was again the possibility for a big alumni meeting. After a long forced break due to Corona, about 150 alumni came together in Weimar on June 23rd in beautiful summer weather. You could literally feel how good it felt for everyone to be back in Weimar in such a special setting and to enjoy a great day of sharing and celebrating wonderful music with like-minded people.

What made this day very special, of course, was that it was embedded in the festive week celebrating the 150th anniversary of our university. But first things first: After the registration and the first so missed reunion moments, the alumni gathered in the banquet hall of the Fürstenhaus to be welcomed once again by the outgoing university president Prof. Dr. Christoph Stölzl.

Musically there were already the first highlights with a great harp duo as well as an extraordinary piano quartet. Works by Marcel Tournier and Gabriel Fauré could be heard.

Afterwards, in the seminar building of the Weimarhalle, there was plenty of time to exchange ideas, reminisce and make new contacts. Naturally, refreshments were also provided.

A very special guest marked a moving moment. Dorothea Kühn, who studied the harp in Weimar from 1946 to 1950 and had already participated in the 75th anniversary of the university, took up the microphone and let all the guests share her experiences and memories "from another time".

In the evening, the next highlight was waiting right next door in the Weimarhalle. The Festive Concert I treated the audience here to works by Franz Liszt, Richard Strauss, Franz Schubert, as well as a world premiere of a work by Weimar composition professor Michael Obst, performed by the chamber choir and university orchestra under the direction of Prof. Nicolás Pasquet.

The speech of alumnus Prof. Dr. Wolfram Huschke was held by the former president of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, Hellmut Seemann. Unfortunately Wolfram Huschke was ill that day,

On the day after the alumni meeting, the new president Prof. Anne-Kathrin Lindig was inaugurated at 11:00 a.m. in the Weimarhalle. In the evening the festive concert II took place. Also at these two events and beyond, quite a few alumni took advantage of the incredible event density of the festival week.

We were very happy that you were there and hope you had a good time at "your" Music University and in Weimar.
