Over the past 26 years she has taught as a professor at the thriving Institute of Piano and Accordion at the Weimar Musikhochschule - and has already inspired generations of young pianists in the classroom, helping them to express themselves musically. Born in Halle an der Saale, she studied at the conservatories in Leipzig, Weimar and Warsaw with Heinz Volger, Lidia Kozubek and Rolf-Dieter Arens. An extensive career as a soloist has taken her to Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic, France, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, the Ukraine, Canada, South Korea and China. In addition to her solo career, Gerlinde Otto is a versatile chamber musician and Lied-accompanist. She has also been invited to partake as a member of the jury at both national and international piano competitions. Productions for radio and television as well as CD recordings have also added to her artistic work. Most recently, she has recorded CD II of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “The Well-Tempered Clavier” on the label Genuin.
