Dana Borsan, Romania

Born in Cluj, Dana Borsan is a graduate of the Music Conservatory of Bucharest and a former University of the Arts Berlin scholar. She studied with the maestros Gabriel Amiraș (disciple of Heinrich Neuhaus), Georg Sava and Peter Florian, as well as under the guidance of Hans Leygraf, Hélène Boschi and Dmitri Bashkirov. The 2nd prize at the prestigious International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau, which she was awarded at the age of 19, propelled her onto the international concert hall stages. For 45 years, her artist’s name constantly headlined concerts in 17 countries around the world and the programmes of well-known festivals. Dana Borsan played more than 900 concerts and recitals, she also recorded more than 15 CDs. Her repertoire, includes 50 concertos and recital programmes. She has also gained much recognition as a pedagogue and professor at the National Music University of Bucharest since 1990. Numerous of her former students are prizewinners of international competitions. Dana Borșan has been a guest professor at Music Universities in Vienna, Paris, Stuttgart, Weimar, Oslo, Cork and Nürnberg. Furthermore, she is sought after as jury member of international competitions in Oslo, Hong Kong, Guérande, Bucharest and Cluj.
