Question and answer session and tour
State Secretary Prof. Dr. Steffen Teichert visits the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar
The visit by Thuringia's State Secretary for Science and Culture, Prof. Dr. Steffen Teichert, to the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar on Wednesday, February 11, was both informative and productive. As part of his inaugural visit, the State Secretary also gave the university community ample opportunity to ask him questions. A two-hour plenary session was convened for this purpose in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus, which – framed by musical performances – took the form of an open question and answer session on the future of Thuringia's universities.
In the presence of the Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Rüdiger Nolte, as well as representatives of the university management and the student council, an informative tour of the university buildings followed, giving the interested guest from the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Science, and Culture a resounding impression of the artistic work at the Weimar Music University. This included a visit to the Fürstenhaus, where a recording session in the sound studio and a cello class taught by Prof. Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt were observed.
The tour continued in the monastery building Am Palais, which houses the Department of Music Education and Church Music. Here, Prof. Dr. Steffen Teichert was able to sit in on a lesson with organ professor Martin Sturm and learn about the organ landscape in the Palais, which has expanded significantly in recent years. “We were very pleased about the State Secretary's visit and his interest in our institution,” said University President Prof. Anne-Kathrin Lindig. “His clear and open words about the future of higher education in Thuringia were also very well received.”
