Christian Lillinger, born in Lübben, is an internationally recognised composer, percussionist, curator and producer. He began his musical training at the age of 13 and later studied at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden with Günter Baby Sommer, Sven Helbig and Michael Griener. He has lived in Berlin since 2003, where he is actively involved in the contemporary music and art scene.

Lillinger has founded several ensembles, including Christian Lillinger's GRUND, the ensemble DELL-LILLINGER-WESTERGAARD (DLW) and the project ‘Open Form for Society’ (OFFS). In 2018, he founded the label PLAIST, which specialises in avant-garde, contemporary and post-genre music with a focus on process-oriented approaches. PLAIST has currently (as of 07/2022) released 11 productions, including ‘Klavierstück VI’ by Karlheinz Stockhausen, ‘Über die Linie’ by Wolfgang Rihm, ‘Boulez Materialism’ by DBLW and BEATS (DLW).

He has received several awards for his innovative work, including the German Jazz Award 2021 in the two categories ‘Artist of the Year’ and ‘Drums/Percussion’ and he received the ‘Instant Award In Improvised Music’ 2023.
