Bachelor

Playing and trying out together in ensembles is a central element of the Bachelor's degree programme at the Department of Jazz alongside the main subject lessons. Teachers at the department lead numerous small groups on various topics. The results are often presented in concerts or recorded in the recording studio. The department's HfM Jazz Orchestra rehearses weekly and presents its work to a wide audience once a semester. Workshops with internationally renowned artists provide inspiration and new perspectives on music.

In the first two years of the Bachelor's programme, students take basic courses such as rhythm training, ear training and theory in addition to individual lessons in their main subject and the ensembles. After the intermediate examination concert, students can deepen their interests in their main subject and in courses of their choice and thus design their Bachelor's project. The numerous small session and concert series in Weimar offer students the opportunity to meet and play together outside of the university.

Application documents and information for the Bachelor's programme can be found in the course finder.
