From the Rhine to the Ilm
A Musical Journey in the Inaugural Concert of Voice Professor Silke Evers
She’s not coming alone: Voice Professor Silke Evers is presenting her inaugural concert at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar alongside longtime friends from the worlds of orchestra and opera, spanning from Paris to Würzburg to Weimar. At her grand performance on Monday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus as part of “Virtuoses Weimar – Faculty in Concert,” the soprano aims to take the audience on a musical journey from the Rhine to the Ilm. Tickets are 15 euros (reduced rate 10 euros) and are available at the Weimar Tourist Information Office as well as at the box office.
The extensive, colorful, and stylistically diverse program ranges from Baroque arias to Romantic and Modern songs, operetta duets—and even a contemporary work for solo soprano from 2001. The range of composers spans from Johann Sebastian Bach to Robert Schumann and Franz Liszt, all the way to Anton von Webern and Lili Boulanger. Depending on the piece, Silke Evers is joined by professional musicians playing Baroque and modern instruments—as well as renowned stage colleagues such as soprano Anne Schwanewilms and baritone Uwe Schenker-Primus.
The lyric soprano Silke Evers has, over two decades as a permanent ensemble member at the Mainfrankentheater Würzburg, portrayed a wide variety of roles, such as Mozart’s Donna Anna, Fiordiligi, or Ilia, as well as Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Michaela (Carmen), Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), and Hanna Glawari (The Merry Widow), as well as leading roles in world premieres. Guest engagements have taken her to numerous opera houses, and she gained international attention through her participation in the Salzburg Festival as well as through her highly acclaimed performances at the Berlin State Opera.
The multi-award-winning artist can be heard regularly in renowned concert halls across Europe, including the Berlin Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Cologne Philharmonie, and the Tonhalle Zurich. Silke Evers is in demand not only as a stylistically assured interpreter of Baroque music but also in the field of contemporary music, where she performs with renowned composers, ensembles, and conductors (e.g., Enno Poppe, Ingo Metzmacher, ensemble modern, Experimentalstudio Freiburg, and many others).
Her extraordinary song programs have garnered particular attention. A CD-book featuring songs by Walther von Goethe was recently released. In addition to her extensive concert and opera activities, Silke Evers has dedicated herself with great commitment to the training of young singers for many years. Her teaching activities have taken her to the Music universities in Mainz and Würzburg as well as to international master classes. Since the summer semester of 2024, she has been a professor of voice at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar.
