For Climate Protection and the Power of Music
Presentation of the newly wrapped “Liszt” bus in front of the Fürstenhaus
A new partnership agreement is bringing even more energy to the cityscape: For the next three years, a hydrogen-powered bus operated by Stadtwirtschaft Weimar will be rolling through the streets with a new wrap featuring a youthful, colorful, and humorous design. The articulated bus named after Franz Liszt has been wrapped with images of musicians from the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar playing and jumping—and will be a prominent, moving symbol of greater climate protection and the power of music in the future.
The bus was unveiled to the public on Wednesday, June 24, as part of the Dies Academicus, the 154th anniversary of the university, on Democracy Square in front of the Fürstenhaus. The “Liszt Brass” ensemble provided festive musical accompaniment. As part of the new collaboration, Stadtwirtschaft Weimar offers music students interesting and, in some cases, innovative performance opportunities: whether on the Christmas bus, in senior centers and nursing homes, on bus tours—or perhaps even at the city’s swimming pools.
"At Stadtwirtschaft Weimar, we see ourselves not only as service providers for the people of Weimar, but also as partners to the city’s community. That is why we deliberately focus on collaborations with local institutions. Together with the University of Music, we combine sustainable mobility with culture and make both visible in the cityscape. This gives rise to projects that create added value for citizens and make Weimar an even better place to live,” says Bernd Wagner, Managing Director of Stadtwirtschaft Weimar.
“The University of Music considers itself very fortunate to be bringing such a bus onto the streets of Weimar in collaboration with Stadtwirtschaft,” says the Vice President for Professional Practice, Prof. Christian Wilm Müller. “We are very pleased that our colleague Susanne Tutein designed such a fantastic layout for the bus.” The bus is not only an advertisement for the university but also for alternative and environmentally friendly modes of transportation, which should become more widespread. “At the same time, it’s a win for the university to partner with Stadtwirtschaft to bring concerts to people who may not be able to come on their own,” says Müller. There are many shared ideas that are beneficial for all parties.
