Artistic studies as a major subject with a specialization (artistic or instrumental pedagogy) from the 5th semester onwards

Prerequisite:

General university entrance qualification (Abitur), passed aptitude test, proof of language level B2 (for foreign applicants) - deviating requirements are described in the special requirements for the aptitude test.

Study information:

A consecutive Master’s programme comprising 120 ECTS credits, which broadens and deepens students’ individual skills, qualifying them for a career as a professional musician with a wide range of opportunities in a broad and diverse professional field (in the areas of artistic practice, education or artistic research), whether working on a freelance basis or in a salaried role, Study can commence in either the winter or summer semester.

Standard period of study:

4 Semester

Content:

A major in the arts, supplemented where applicable by compulsory modules related to the major in a core area, with the option to tailor the programme to individual interests by selecting relevant compulsory-elective modules in the specialisation area

Postgraduate artistic studies – designed to foster artistic excellence at the highest level and thus prepare students for a career as a soloist and chamber musician in leading ensembles (equivalent to a PhD)

Konzertexamen (concert examination)

Standard period of study:

4 Semester

Content:

Postgraduate studies in the main subject with a high proportion of self-study; work studies and chamber music can be chosen as supplementary subjects.

Prerequisite:

Subject-specific master's or diploma degree, passed aptitude test
