The 10th International LOUIS SPOHR Competition for Young Violinists enters the decisive round
The first finalists of the 10th International LOUIS SPOHR Competition for Young Violinists have been chosen: On Wednesday, 2 November at 6:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Music High School Schloss Belvedere, the youngest participants of the violin competition at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar will perform live and via livestream.
They will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major KV 216 together with the university orchestra conducted by Prof. Nicolás Pasquet. The livestream is available on the university website at www.hfm-weimar.de and at www.youtube.com/hfmfranzlisztweimar
In the youngest competition category I, three violinists have made it to the final. Australian Laura Jin, born in Sydney in 2012, will play first on 2.11. at 18:00. The next violinist will be Margarita Pochebut from Ukraine, who was born in Kharkiv in 2010. The last finalist will be Lilja Haatainen from Finland, born in Oulu in 2011, at 19:10.
The third and decisive round of the competition will continue on Thursday, 3 November at the Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere: Here, at 10:00 a.m., the finalists of Category II will play Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor. The oldest participants in Category III will perform Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Violin Concerto in E minor at 3:00 pm.
On 3 November, all performances can also be experienced via livestream at www.hfm-weimar.de.
A free bus transfer will be offered to the final round at the Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere on 2 and 3 November: Outward journey on 2 November at 5 pm, on 3 November at 9 am and on 3 November at 2 pm, departing from the Fürstenhaus at the Platz der Demokratie. Return journey after each round from the bus stop at Belvedere Palace Music High School.
The prize winners' concert will take place on Friday, 4 November at 7:30 pm in the Weimarhalle. The Jena Philharmonic Orchestra will perform under the direction of Prof. Nicolás Pasquet. Tickets are 19 euros, reduced 15 euros, and are available at the Tourist Information Office in Weimar and at the box office.
