Eszter Szedmák was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1996. From 2011 to 2016, she attended the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music and Instrument Making, a training institution for young musicians affiliated with the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. During these years, she also trained in piano, organ, and harpsichord.
From 2016 to 2025, she studied harpsichord with Prof. Bernhard Klapprott in Weimar. In 2025, she also completed her organ studies with Prof. Silvius von Kessel, Prof. Bernhard Klapprott, and Prof. Martin Sturm. In 2016, she won first prize at the International Organ Competition in Herford, in 2017 second prize at the International Harpsichord Competition in Milan, and in 2019 the audience prize at the International Olivier Messiaen Organ Competition.
She attended masterclasses with Olivier Latry, Masaaki Suzuki, Bob van Asperen, Andreas Staier, Malcolm Bilson, and Pierre Hantaï. In 2017 and 2019, she was awarded the Germany Scholarship. She spent the 2021/22 academic year in Paris with the help of an Erasmus scholarship, studying with professors Olivier Latry, Thomas Ospital, and Christophe Mantoux. Since the 2025/26 winter semester, she has been working at the FRANZ LISZT University of Music in Weimar as a lecturer for organ.
