Digitalisation

Digitality opens up additional, easily accessible opportunities for cooperation and encounters. Existing cooperation projects can be expanded and intensified through digital dimensions; conversely, digitality is a tool for the low-threshold development of new cooperation projects. This interaction documents the equal strategic relevance of both internationalization and digitalization at the Weimar University of Music.

The intertwining of both fields is demonstrated by the targeted networking, for example

  • in the nationwide Music Universities 4.0 network, which is focusing on digital teaching development in its current funding phase, and
  • the Thuringia-wide eTeach network, which focuses on the digital support of teaching formats with a wide variety of formats.

The coordination and support of projects in both networks is always developed at the Weimar University of Music with a view to internationalization. Concrete instruments for this are the participation in or (co-)development of ERASMUS-funded blended intensive programs, in which digitally prepared and supported teaching and practical projects lead to a subsequent presence phase of the participating project partners.

The Weimar University of Music is intensively involved in the administrative digitalization of the ERASMUS+ (ERASMUS without paper) education programme. This will be used in particular to increase the attractiveness of the program through less bureaucracy, not least to increase the number of participants at the University. In addition, the quality of advice will be improved, for example through the targeted evaluation of participant numbers and reports.

The parallel introduction and further implementation of the campus management system HISinOne, the spatial planning tool ASIMUT and other digital tools are also being driven forward from the perspective of internationalization issues, for example by establishing standardized processes for the translation of system information. Conversely, the systems contribute to the simplification and harmonization of administrative processes, making them more transparent for international students.
