A Grand Series of Concerts to Festively Conclude the 66th Weimar Master Classes
The 66th Weimar Master Classes at the FRANZ LISZT University of Music in Weimar will conclude with an extensive and dazzling concert extravaganza. First, Prof. Anna Garzuly-Wahlgren’s flute class will perform on Friday, August 7 at 4:00 p.m. at the Forum Seebach, before the international participants of the current violin, cello, piano, and flute courses take the stage with solo works and chamber music at the “Meisterhaft” concert on Friday eveningat 7:30 p.m. in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus.
Once again, the individual courses will be held simultaneously on Saturday, August 8, at 4:00 p.m.: Lilya Zilberstein’s piano course at the Festsaal Fürstenhaus, Tanja Becker-Bender’s violin course at the Hotel Elephant, and Maria Kliegel’s cello course at the Forum Seebach. The renowned cellist Maria Kliegel stepped in at short notice over the past few days to serve as an instructor for visiting professor Troels Svane.
For the grand finale, the Weimar Master Classes invite you to the Weimarhalle on Saturday evening, August 8, at 7:30 p.m.: There, “The Best for Last” will present entertaining excerpts from solo concertos, passionately accompanied by the Jena Philharmonic under the trusted baton of Markus L. Frank. The program will include excerpts from Jean Sibelius’s famous Violin Concerto in D minor, Robert Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor, Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D major, and Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major.
Tickets for the concerts at the Fürstenhaus and the Weimarhalle are available at the Weimar Tourist Information Office and at the box office. Admission to the Forum Seebach and the Hotel Elephant is free.
