Chamber Music Days Entice with Exquisite Ensemble Music
As the most crystalline sound form in classical music, the delicate playing of a small ensemble holds special beauty—and challenges. At the Weimar Music university, too, every nuance counts once again as the Chamber Music Days mark the end of the semester. A total of 13 concerts in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus, Forum Seebach, and the Sendehalle will offer from July 1 to 13 a diverse range of works. Admission to all concerts is free!
“Right from the very first concerts, we’ll hear great Romantic piano quintets by Robert Schumann and César Franck,” explains the artistic director of the Chamber Music Days, Prof. Martin Klett. The Schumann Quintet will conclude the opening concert on Friday, July 1, at 4:00 p.m. at the Forum Seebach, which will also feature several works for four trumpets as well as a sumptuous suite by Moritz Moszkowski for two violins and piano.
With smaller ensembles featuring many woodwind instruments and accordion, the Chamber Music Days will make their debut at the Sendehalle Weimar on Friday, July 1, at 7:30 p.m. Two contemporary works for bassoon and accordion by Annette Schlünz and Ezko Kikoutchi will also be performed as previews. In addition, audiences can enjoy a wide selection of duets for two violins composed by Béla Bartók, including “Dudelsack,” “Transylvanian Dance,” and “Slovak Song.”
“Piano trios by Beethoven and Dvořák will also be performed,” says chamber music professor Martin Klett, referring to the third concert on Saturday, July 2, at 7:00 p.m. at the Forum Seebach. “Look forward to numerous concerts featuring colorful ensembles and musical diversity,” says Klett, extending an invitation to the following ten concerts as well.
