Robinson Wappler, born in Leipzig in 1968, received his first violin lessons at the age of four. He began playing the horn at the age of 12. After initially studying in Leipzig, he transferred to the FRANZ LISZT Weimar University of Music in the class of Prof Karl Biehlig. Following his undergraduate studies, he completed his postgraduate studies for the concert exam with Prof Reiner Heimbuch in 1996.

At the age of 21, Robinson Wappler became solo horn player at the Erfurt Theatre. After a stopover in the royal seat of Gotha, he was appointed principal horn at the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he still holds today. Solo and chamber music activities as well as temporary work in various orchestras complement his artistic work.

Robinson Wappler has been teaching at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar and its centre for highly gifted students, the Music High School Schloss Belvedere, for more than 20 years. In May 2024, the Weimar Music University has appointed him as honorary professor of horn.
