Joscha Bernath is a lecturer in stage speech at the Institute for Voice and Musical Theatre of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, an internationally active educator and performer. He studied Speech Art and Communication Pedagogy with a focus on Speech Art/Vocal Performance at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, graduating with top honors in 2013. He subsequently earned a Master of Arts in Speech Communication and Rhetoric from the University of Regensburg alongside his professional practice.

As a speaker, actor, singer, and puppeteer, Joscha Bernath has been active nationally and internationally for many years, performing in theatres, festivals, and independent productions. His artistic engagements have included the Theater Reutlingen, the Staatstheater Stuttgart, and the large-scale puppet theatre Dundu. In addition, he has worked as a speaker and singer in various ensembles and has realized numerous literature and performance projects throughout the German-speaking world.

Since 2015, he has been teaching at the Institute for Voice and Music Theatre at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, where he instructs students in stage speech, body-voice training, movement, and body awareness. Previously, he taught speech education and vocal training in the puppetry program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart and worked as a voice and speech coach for the Schauspiel Stuttgart at the State Theatre. In addition to his academic work, he maintains a small studio near Darmstadt, where he continues to explore and apply his integrative approach to voice, body, and communication with professional voice users and performing artists.

His intensive and unconventional approach has received wide recognition across Europe. He is regularly invited to give workshops and masterclasses in stage speech, body-voice training, and Eutony – a body-based method that promotes freedom, awareness, and resonance in artistic expression. Institutions where he has taught include prestigious conservatories and universities in Madrid, Bern, Venice, Dublin, Como, Málaga, Vigo, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Trapani, and other European cities.

In his teaching and artistic-pedagogical work, Joscha Bernath combines voice, body, and personality into a holistic approach that fosters authenticity, creativity, and self-efficacy – on stage, in professional contexts, and in everyday life.
