Marietta Zumbült studied singing/music theatre at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and at the
Hanover University of Music and Theatre. Prof William Reimer and Carol Richardson were her most important teachers. Masterclasses with Judith Beckmann and Eugine Rabine and vocal pedagogy studies at the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar from 1999-2002 completed her training. In 1986 she was awarded a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association in Essen.
After her first engagement at the Brandenburg Theatre in 1993, Marietta Zumbült was engaged as a lyric soprano at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar from 1997 to 2009. Here she sang all the major roles in her repertoire, including Pamina, Sophie (Rosenkavalier), Countess (Marriage of Figaro), Marie (Bartered Bride), Micaela (Carmen) and the title role in Verdi's ‘Luisa Miller’. Marietta Zumbült has performed extensively not only throughout Germany, but also in Hungary, Israel, France, Denmark, the Baltic States and St. Petersburg.

She works with conductors such as George Alexander Albrecht, Jörg Straube, Heinz Hennig, Christopher Hogwood, Reinhard Goebel, Jörg Peter Weigle and Simon Preston, to name but a few. Renowned orchestras - Staatskapelle Weimar, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Talinna Kammerorkester, Staatsorchester Halle and Musica Antiqua Köln - are her trusted partners.
Her extensive repertoire covers a wide range of eras, from Renaissance and Baroque to contemporary music. She is particularly fond of chamber music and lieder. Marietta Zumbült performs mainly with Sabine Meyer, Liese Klahn, Reiner Wehle and Friederike Richter. Marietta Zumbült is a regular guest at major music festivals such as the Innsbruck Early Music Festival, Göttingen International Handel Festival, Veszprém Festival (Hungary), Festival de la Chaise-Dieu, Halle Handel Festival, Thüringer Bachwochen, Niedersächsische Musiktage and many more.
Since 2009, she has been able to further expand her concert and guest performance engagements as well as her work as a singing teacher. She is also a lecturer for singing at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar and has held an honorary professorship there since October 2024. Since 2013, she has been a team member of the seminar management of personality-building and strengthening seminars and has her own practice for therapeutic work. Since 2018, she has been holding her own workshops on voice, breathing and body awareness, presence and performance training. Numerous CD productions and radio recordings attest to her singing and artistic calibre.
