Guido Hackhausen studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin and at the same time music and theater studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. Studies abroad took him to the USA and France. From 2001 he was a tenor at the Mittelsächsisches Theater Freiberg, then at the Theater Plauen-Zwickau and finally at the Landesbühnen Sachsen. Here he sang numerous lyric and dramatic roles. In 2013, he moved from the stage to the Theater Hof as music dramaturge, before taking over the areas of casting and artistic production management in the opera management of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in 2015. From 2015 to 2022, he served as artistic operations director at the Stadttheater in Giessen, the Wuppertaler Bühnen and the Staatstheater Braunschweig. Since 2022, he has been engaged in this position at the Bayreuth Festival. Parallel to his theater activities, Guido Hackhausen has been teaching at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT in Weimar since 2017.
