Due to demonstrations
The Fürstenhaus will be closed on Saturday, October 4
On October 4, 2025, several political demonstrations and counter-demonstrations will take place in downtown Weimar. A demonstration organized by individuals and groups from the “Reichsbürger” movement will be held on Platz der Demokratie, in front of the main building of the University of Music. Platz der Demokratie, Ackerwand, and Schlossgasse will therefore be closed from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Alliance Against Right-Wing Extremism Weimar (BgR Weimar) has called for a counter-demonstration at Burgplatz (city palace) at 12 noon, and an alliance of several parties has also invited people to a counter-demonstration at Wielandplatz starting at 12 noon.
Due to the demonstration, Platz der Demokratie will be closed on Saturday, October 4, and the Fürstenhaus and Rößlersche Haus will remain closed. Alternative rooms for students are available in the Beethoven and Haydn houses (Belvedere). The “thoska” can be activated for this day if necessary.
The presidium of the Weimar University of Music recommends that people in the city center on this day exercise particular sensitivity, avoid conflict situations, and be especially attentive to themselves and others.
The University of Music Weimar is actively committed to tolerance, cosmopolitanism, and a diverse, free society—and is making its stance widely visible with a banner on the Fürstenhaus.
