Singer Brigitte Fassbaender gives a vocal master class at the Weimar Music University

The Department of Vocal Studies and Music Theatre at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT regularly invites internationally renowned singers to Weimar: For the third time, from 1 to 4 November, Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender will give an internal master class at the Studiotheater Belvedere.

The students will present the results of their joint work in a public final concert on Friday, 4 November at 6 p.m. in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus. Admission is free!

The three-day courses at the Studiotheater Belvedere are also open to the public: listeners are welcome, admission is free. The course repertoire is broad - each participant brings at least three arias and three songs to choose from.

The course times are from Tuesday to Thursday, 1 to 3 November, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Brigitte Fassbaender was born in Berlin and studied singing with her father, the Kammersänger Willy Domgraf-Fassbaender. At the age of 21 she made her debut at the Bavarian State Opera, where her international career began. She made guest appearances at all the world's leading opera houses and sang the great roles in her field.

Some 300 recordings bear witness to her great importance as a singer. A milestone was her recording of the three great Schubert cycles, which she was the only woman to record to date. In 1970 she was appointed Bavarian Chamber Singer.

Since 1995 Brigitte Fassbaender has devoted herself entirely to directing. In the meantime, she has staged over 60 productions at home and abroad. From 1999 to 2012 she was artistic director of the Tiroler Landestheater und Orchester GmbH Innsbruck.

Young singers are also particularly close to her heart: she has been a juror at numerous international singing competitions and is the artistic director of the "Eppaner Lied Sommer". From 2009 to 2017 she was Artistic Director of the Richard Strauss Festival in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and since 2017 she has been patron of the International Meistersinger Academy in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz.
