Trombone festival ‘Slide Adventure’ from 15-17 November in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus

A new trombone festival in Weimar invites you to public concerts and lectures: On the weekend of 15-17 November, trombone enthusiasts will meet for the first ‘Slide Adventure’ in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar.

Students, amateurs from trombone choirs and associations, as well as students and professionals are expected. This offers them a unique opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and make music together.

The Trombones Festival will kick off with an opening concert at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 15 November, in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus. The Weimar trombones class, under the direction of Prof. Christian Sprenger, will perform.

On Saturday, 16 November at 6:30 pm in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus, there will be another concert, in which the trombone class of the University of Music Würzburg will perform under the direction of Prof. Andreas Kraft.

The joint final concert will take place on Sunday, 17 November at 5:00 p.m., once again in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus. In addition to the trombone classes from Weimar and Würzburg, an ensemble of ‘Slide Adventure’ participants and the trombone class from the Music High School Schloss Belvedere will be on stage. Admission to all concerts is free.

The concerts will be complemented by a lecture by the Verein für mitteldeutsche Posanengeschichte (Association for Central German Trombone History) on the topic ‘The German, romantic trombone – a discontinued model?’ on Saturday, 16 November at 1:00 p.m. in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus.

Another presentation will take place on Sunday, 17 November at 1:30 p.m. in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus: Under the motto ‘Playing the trombone is child's play,’ the work at the Music High School Schloss Belvedere and the Music and Art School Jena will be presented.

The artistic and organisational direction of the ‘Slide Adventure’ lies in the hands of Weimar trombone professor Christian Sprenger. Various guests are invited to the annual festival. This year, colleagues from the University of Music in Würzburg accepted Prof. Sprenger's invitation: Prof. Andreas Kraft, Norbert Daum and the Würzburg trombone class are guests in Weimar.
