The "Days of Chamber Music" invite you to twelve diverse concerts
Anyone who would like to experience the special diversity and tonal beauty of young musicians making music together live is cordially invited to the twelve concerts during the "Days of Chamber Music". As is already a tradition at the end of the winter semester, audiences can look forward to a cornucopia of varied programmes at four different venues from 1 to 11 February.
"Chamber music could also be described as the supreme discipline in music," says the artistic director of the "Days of Chamber Music", Prof Christian Wilm Müller. "A small number of people enter into a dialogue in a small space to allow the infinite dimensions of human experience to emerge." Admission to all twelve concerts is free!
Under the motto "From classical to modern", the "Days of Chamber Music" will open on Thursday, 1 February at 4:00 p.m. in the Notenbank. In addition to classical violin sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven, a romantic "Fantasiestück" op. 73 by Schumann in a version for clarinet and accordion and the contemporary work "Under Western Skies" by Kevin McKee for two trumpets will be performed.
"Tastenstreich mit Flöte" is the title of the second concert on Friday, 2 February at 7:30 p.m. in the Saal Am Palais. The programme includes Franz Schubert's tense Piano Trio No. 2 in E flat major, a sonata for flute and piano by Jindrich Feld and the late Clarinet Quintet in B minor by Johannes Brahms.
This will be followed by a concert "At the pinnacle of classical chamber music" on Saturday, 3 February at 7:30 p.m. in the Saal Am Palais. Performances will include Mozart's String Quartet K. 421 in D minor, Mendelssohn's fiery Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor and Brahms' Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor op. 60.
The woodwind instruments will dominate the fourth concert entitled "Deep Voices" on Sunday, 4 February at 7:30 p.m. in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus. The programme ranges from pieces by Pergolesi from the early 18th century, arranged for two oboes and cor anglais, to the contemporary "Songs after Poems by Pablo Neruda" for double bass and oboe by Andrea Clearfield. The second of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Rasumowsky String Quartets" can also be heard in a very classical style.
The Chamber Music Days move to the Forum Seebach on Tuesday, 6 February at 4:00 p.m.: Here you can experience works for guitar duo by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Paulo Bellinati in an exciting tonal contrast to pieces by Telemann, Turner and McKee in arrangements for two trumpets, horn, trombone and tuba.
Under the beautiful title "Mit zwei ausbreitenden Flügeln" (With two spreading wings), the concert will also take place on Tuesday, 6 February at 7:30 p.m. in the Festsaal Fürstenhaus. The programme includes violin and cello sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven, a sonatina for flute and guitar by Castelnuovo-Tedesco and the "Danse Macabre" for two pianos by Camille Saint-Saëns.
