Long Night of the Sciences on 15 November at the Hochschulzentrum am Horn
As part of the Long Night of the Sciences in Weimar and Weimarer Land on Friday, 15 November, the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar will also be opening its doors. From 6:00 pm until late into the evening, the University Centre am Horn will be presenting the Department of Musicology Weimar-Jena with Arts Management and Music Theory, Music Education, the University Library and the University Archive | Thuringian Regional Music Archive.
After a welcome address by Prof. Juan Garcia, Vice President for Research and Practice, at 6:00 p.m. in the lecture hall of the Hochschulzentrum am Horn, guests are free to choose between the varied offerings and stroll through the rooms as they please.
In Ensemble Room 301, various information tables on digital teaching and learning concepts at the university, as well as book tables on the topics of musicology, music editions and music education projects, will be on display under the motto ‘Hands-On’.
The focus here is on applied science in AI and app development. Michael Schiefel, for example, will present the ‘MikeLoop’ app he developed as a professor of improvised singing, which visitors can also try out for themselves. Prof. Juan Garcia will show his ‘Digital Error Choir’, Prof. Jörn Arnecke will demonstrate his ‘Kantionalsatz-Maschine’ (KATI) and Prof. Martin Pfleiderer will give an insight into his research project ‘jazz-o-mat’.
Of course, the sounding music should not be missing either: music performances with a spectrum from the Middle Ages to classical and Latin American music are offered hourly in the lecture hall – alternating with lectures and project presentations from the fields of musicology and music education.
The offer is supplemented by several guided tours through the University Archive | Thuringian Regional Music Archive as well as through the Musicology Department Library in the University Centre at Horn.
